Goals and scope
The goal of the Early Research Achievements (ERA) track is to provide research and practitioners with a forum for presenting great ideas in early stages of research. The proposed ideas and promising work submitted to this track do not require full evaluation. The topics of interest for this track are the same as the main research track and concern all the topics in the research and practice of software maintenance and evolution. Submitted papers to ERA must not have been previously accepted for publication nor concurrently submitted for review in another journal, book, or conference. Participants will have the opportunity to present a summary of their work in form of a (short) paper and of a poster.
Note: The ICSM 2010 ERA track accepts only short papers.
How to submit
All papers must conform, at time of submission to the IEEE conference publication format and must not exceed 5 pages, including all text, references, appendices and figures. All submissions must be in English. Submissions must be in PDF format.
Download the IEEE conference proceedings template in: pdf format, Microsoft Word format, Latex format. The IEEE conference proceedings templates and formatting instructions are also available on the IEEE Computer Society’s web site.
The camera–ready copy of accepted papers will utilize the same format and length limits required of submissions, and thus, your submission should reflect the form that you anticipate your camera–ready copy will take.
Papers must be submitted electronically via Easychair.
Review and evaluation criteria
Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the ERA Program Committee. Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of originality, importance of contribution, soundness, evaluation, quality of presentation and appropriate comparison to related work. Special emphasis will be put on the originality of the proposed ideas. While full evaluation of the proposed ideas is not required, empirical evidence will be considered to be an advantage.
The program committee, together with the program chairs, will make final decisions about which submissions to accept for presentation at the conference.
Presentation and publication
Upon notification of acceptance, all authors of accepted papers will be asked to complete an IEEE Copyright form and will receive further instructions for preparing their camera ready versions. At least one author of the paper is expected to register and present the paper at the ICSM 2010 conference, in order for the paper to be published in the proceedings. All accepted contributions will be published in the conference electronic proceedings which will also be available in the IEEE Digital Library.
Accepted papers can not exceed 5 pages in the IEEE conference proceedings format.
ERA papers will be presented at ICSM 2010 in a formal setting and as a poster. More details on presentations will be communicated after the notifications.
